PRESBYOND®: Laser Surgery to Correct Age-Related Farsightedness
What Is PRESBYOND®?
PRESBYOND® is a laser vision correction procedure designed to help people with presbyopia (age-related farsightedness) see well without reading glasses.
PRESBYOND® solves the glasses problem by correcting the eyes so that one eye sees better at a distance and the other sees better up close, while the brain learns to blend the two images together. As a result, the person can see clearly at all distances — near, intermediate, and far — without glasses.
How Does It Work?
The procedure uses the ZEISS MEL 90 excimer laser to precisely reshape the cornea. A blended vision profile (blend zone) is applied, allowing both eyes to work together to see at all distances: near, intermediate, and far.
- Duration: Approximately 15 minutes per eye
- Anesthesia: Topical anesthetic drops
- Recovery: Functional vision within 24-48 hours
Who Is a Candidate?
PRESBYOND® is ideal for people between 45 and 60 years old who want to reduce or eliminate their dependence on reading glasses. It is especially suitable for those who:
- Have presbyopia with or without mild myopia/hyperopia
- Do not wish to undergo intraocular surgery
- Seek a minimally invasive solution
Advantages of PRESBYOND®
- Freedom from reading glasses – enjoy clear, natural vision at every distance without depending on glasses
- Your natural lens is kept – no artificial lens implant is needed, preserving your eye's own natural structure
- Better tolerated than monovision – the brain blends both eyes smoothly, avoiding the imbalance often felt with traditional monovision
- Fast visual recovery – most patients notice clear, comfortable vision within a short time after the procedure
PRESBYOND® Vs Intraocular Lenses
While intraocular lenses (RLE) replace the natural lens, PRESBYOND® works on the cornea, preserving the internal anatomy of the eye. This makes it a less invasive option.
